The Salmon Center's Farm Steward program is a year-round program focused on organic farming, sustainable eating, and healthy nutrition education. The 2019/2020 after school program will be a club of up to 30 students; 15 6-9-year-olds (Radishes) and 15 10-13-year-olds (Beets) that meet twice a month on the first and third Tuesdays, starting on September 17th and going through to May 19th. The after school portions will be from the end of school until 5:30 and transportation to and from the Salmon Center will be arranged at a later date based on the schooling of the participants. Tuesdays will focus on the farm and garden's needs during the different seasons, learning about how to grow and maintain an organic garden. Every other month will also include a Saturday family day, where we tackle larger projects as a community and have a potluck style gathering in the evening. After school sessions will be: Sept. 17th October 1st and 15th November 5th and 19th December 3rd and 17th January 7th and 21st February 4th and 18th March 3rd and 17th April 7th and 21st May 5th and 19th Saturday Community Days will be: September 21st November 23rd January 18th March 21st May 16th Belfair Students: Since we are only able to put on this program two Tuesdays a month, and not every week, Principle King has informed us that you all will need to call in the day before or early the day of the program to tell the office your student will be joining us. We will also send out reminder emails each Monday before the session so no one forgets to call in. Further details are available if needed and more contact will take place prior to the start of the program.
