LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Improve endurance and refine the following strokes: crawl stroke, breaststroke, inverted breaststroke, back crawl stroke, and butterfly. Perform synchronized swimming routines, play water polo, refine competitive starts and turns, and learn more rescue skills. Learn safety precautions for rafting, tubing, and swimming in open water.
REQUIRED SKILLS TO PARTICIPATE: Can swim 100 yards (4 lengths of the lap pool) of each: crawl stoke while using bi-lateral breathing, breast stroke, elementary back stroke, back crawl stroke and sidestroke. Can also swim 25 yards (the length of the lap pool) butterfly stroke. Tread water for 6 minutes using all four kicks and float for 6 minutes with clothes on. Swim underwater three to four body lengths. Properly use mask and snorkel. Can also do flip turns for back and crawl strokes.
