Our World & Beyond - Learning Science through Art: Grades 3-5 Instructor: Samantha Berger
A science themed art class that explores making art projects based on and inspired by the natural world and scientific processes. Through making, we will learn about rock layers, outer space, atoms, and more. The children will have freedom to explore the world at hand by investigating concepts through artmaking. We will use collage techniques, discuss composition, create dioramas or artistic models, and focus on art as an exploratory method of learning to delve into other topics. We will also discuss scientific illustrations and scientific images --- how art or the “beautiful image” is used in the field of science to help us understand the world around us.
