Description
WINTER 24-25 KARATE SCHEDULE: Please note karate starts earlier than other winter enrichment programs.(DROP-OFF Program): Beginner Karate focuses on rule-play and trusting that three basic rules will ensure a safe martial arts experience! Children will learn the most basic dojo(training hall) etiquette: how to bow and how to listen with their eyes. Attentive practice will keep students aware of their surroundings and fellow students as they begin to learn the basics of sparring in relation to defending themselves. Raising their hand to speak, or demonstrating the Statue of Liberty, gives them a lot of power and a voice in the class.
Students at this level are introduced to incentives and rewards in the form of stripes on their belts that lead to belt promotion. These exciting milestones are based on learning specific material, good behavior, facing challenges and consistent attendance. It should be noted and explained to young students that these stripes are not the same as stickers at school, which are a little bit easier to attain. Stripes are earned and not everyone will be promoted at the same time. For more information on this, please ask Sensei Noah for the password to the Students section of the Boston Budo website.
