The last meeting was Monday, November 9, 2020.Research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas; including mathematics, language arts, motivation, concentration, focus, and social skills. Students will learn the fundamentals of good chess play through a fun, interactive teaching period and guided playing time. No previous knowledge of chess is necessary; this is the class for the beginner!
Chess Scholars is a professional chess instruction organization teaching 18,000 children each year. Chess Scholars prides itself in using instructors who are not only very strong chess players, but also experienced and dedicated teachers.
In addition to the chess skills taught, both the Beginners and the Continuing Chess classes stress the skill of both losing AND winning gracefully, and respecting one’s opponent.
