Description
Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism offers recreational youth basketball for ages 11-12. This program focuses on enhancing each youth's knowledge of the game and skill level on the field while providing a positive sports experience emphasizing sportsmanship, and fun.Age as of December 31, 2024 determines eligibility/age group. Leagues are subject to close-out prior to the last day of registration. Leagues may be delayed or cancelled due to an insufficient number of volunteer coaches or game officials.
Due to high demand, registration may fill up prior to the enrollment end date. Please only join the waiting list for the area and age group you intend to play.
Coaches set the practice schedules based on their availability and will contact each participant about their approved practice days and times. Team placement requests will not be granted.
Practices for the Great Bridge area will take place at Great Bridge Community Center, River Crest Community Center or a Chesapeake Public school in the Great Bridge area.
Game schedules will be posted online prior to the beginning of the season. Games will take place at various locations city wide. A game jersey will be provided by the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department.
*Enrolled participants for this age group may be required to attend a skills evaluation to help determine team placement. Evaluations are tentatively scheduled for the week of November 18th. Athletics staff will provide more information after registration closes.*
Responsibility/Consent on registration form, refund policy and team placement guidelines are also listed. Refunds are not granted after participants are placed on teams.
