Camp Douglas Days is series of four workshops and a final community-generated public history program that tells the story of Chicago's prisoner-of-war-camp and its connection to today. Each installment focuses on an different aspect of the Camp Douglas story and pairs Chicago historians with contemporary artists and artist collectives.
The final installment of Camp Douglas Days will be a day-long history workshop featuring presentations by local experts, historians, and archaeologists. Register for the entire day (includes breakfast) by calling Northerly Island at 312-745-2910 or just drop by to munch on some hardtack, learn about civil war history, and hear Songs of the Civil War as performed by Jason McInness of the Old Town School of Folk Music.
Tasty food will be available for purchase at food trucks. Musical performance begins at 3:00 PM. the Civil War encampment takes place throughout the day. This is a free event.
