About This Activity

Description

Howard County Recreation & Parks is accepting registrations for The Red Diamond Recreation All-Star Cheerleading for ages 5-14. This is a recreational competition cheer program. We are looking for participants with a strong devotion to the Sport of Cheerleading. Cheerleading, dancing, and/or tumbling experience is preferred but not required. The program is designed to teach cheering techniques, with an emphasis on safety first. Cheerleaders will be placed on skill appropriate teams to ensure success.

Season will begin with practices starting August 5, 2019; and competitions may begin late October 2019 through early May 2020. Practice will be 4 days to start (no Fridays); and will be 3 days once school begins. No Fridays with the possible exception the week of a big competition. Competitions will be held on weekends. Practices will be at local fields and schools. There will be an optional gymnastic (days) beginning August 2019 (exact date and location TBD, additional cost).

Each squad member is issued a uniform consisting of skirt, vest top, and pompoms. A $200 deposit check for uniform required (no starter checks) Each squad member must also purchase personal accessory package consisting of: body suit/midriff, bloomers, sneakers and socks, hair ribbon and warm-up. Accessory Packages will be approximately $160, if you are a new cheerleader with none of the items from the previous season. (Packages or items may be available for order during orientation and at equipment checkout, please bring checkbook). Parents may choose to purchase practice wear (shorts, shirt, etc), and equipment bag.

There will be two mandatory parents meeting will be held Thursday, August 1st and Tuesday, August 27. Information will be sent with welcome packet. Please use an email account you check frequently when registering and update the email with the registration if it changes during the season. The Cheer Director is Felicia Hughes. Payment plans are available for registration, call 410-313-7275. Last day to request a payment plan is June 28th. All payment plans must be completely paid by August 27th. Registrations are first-come- first-served. No refunds after August 1st. Volunteers are needed for coaching, assistant coaching, team admin, and committees.
