Growing Gymnasts is for 6-8 year old's who want to develop gymnastics and tumbling skills on floor mats, bars, and floor beams. No previous gymnastics experience is necessary, however it would help your child if they have taken Little Leapers (previously names Little Steps). We will work on strength and flexibility to start each class and then work on skills, such as rolls, handstands, cartwheels, and backbends on the mats. On the beam, we will practice balance and learn how to do basic skills, such as jumps, leaps, and kicks. On bars, we will work on swings, getting onto the bar, and how to safely dismount. In the last class, we will have a mini-meet where gymnasts will get to show their parents the skills they have learned on each apparatus through a routine. Participants must be on their own for 45 minutes in class each week.
