About This Activity

Participants entering this course must have a Level 1 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements of Level 1.

The child must be 5 years of age or older, must be able to stand alone and comfortably in 3’ – 3’8” depth of water and be able to have the ability to be productive in a group setting. The objectives of Level 2 are to grow in the knowledge and ability in fundamental swimming skills. Students will start to explore skills without instructor support. Please note it may take several attempts at this class to move on to the next level.

Participants learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Participants continue to explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes.


On the weekend of University of Iowa home football games, class will be held on Sunday at the same scheduled time.

Saturdays: Oct. 19, Nov. 9, 16
Sundays: Oct. 27, Nov. 3
