Our Fall Term will be lead by Jeremiah Stark and registration will be available as a semester or drop in. No class on Thanksgiving week. Join an outdoor class of homeschoolers to explore Earth Science in a hands-on way designed to spur curiosity, student-led problem solving and skill mastery! As we practice outdoor skills and the character and judgement skills that go along with that practice, we’ll ask questions and find answers about the plants, animals and environment around us. We’ll aim to progressively master skills like fire building, shelter making, navigation, water purification, and plant identification. We’ll practice trail etiquette and first aid in real-world scenarios on field trips around the Valley. Each week an email will be sent out with suggestions and resources for connecting what we learn to core standards for science. Our Fall curriculum will continue to include field trips and building skills both concrete and abstract. The session will continue to be grounded in developing and improving basic outdoor skills and command of the concepts that go with them. Fire, knife work, shelter, rope/knots, navigation as well as flora and fauna identification and use/tracking.
