The first electric vehicles were built as early as the 19th century yet it wasn’t until the 21st century that the electric car would really take off - thanks Tesla. In this one-week adventure, we will be designing, building, and competing with our own electric cars utilizing our maker lab! Kids will get to use 3D printers, laser cutters, and motors to design and build their own electric car with the guidance of instructors and compete in a number of competition challenges: Speed Racers, aMazing Race, No Terrain No Gain, and more. Students will learn the ins & outs of Computer-Aided Design (CAD), measurements, electronics, design thinking, and other Applied Design Skills and Technologies (ADST) related to the BC Curriculum! This camp is for those young makers interested in building using robotics, electronics, and 3D printing. Kids will learn fundamental skills and tools to begin working on their own engineering projects at home. They’ll also be taking home their electric car they designed and a number of their own other mini-projects (3D prints and laser cuts) they worked on along the way. >> Highly recommended for students that enjoyed the engineering activities of our STEAM SAMPLER camp. Technical difficulty is at a beginner level and no matter what the outcome our top priority is to have fun and challenge ourselves.
