Everything rolled into one: Acting basics, Improv, lots of backstage projects AND a production of one of William Shakespeare’s most beloved plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. How can this possibly happen, you ask? Only at Super Summer! We will explore voice and movement for the stage, learn improvisation techniques, make props, design costumes and find out about set design basics as well as audition for, rehearse and finally perform one of the most magical plays of all time. Actors will be required to audition for roles in the first week, memorize lines in the next and be ready to perform on the final day of Super Summer in a specially adapted version of Shakespeare’s wonderful comedy. There are magical roles in abundance, as well as a Duke, an Amazon Queen, a hapless playwright trying to direct a band of misfits, and some young people who have the misfortune of getting lost in a magical wood. There is also a spot for someone who might not want to do lots of acting but wants to learn about the directing process by serving as an assistant to Ms. Carr. Don’t miss the magical fun!
