Led by female kayak instructors, this women’s kayak class offers a refresher and confidence builder, as well as an opportunity to network with other local paddlers at a similar skill, comfort and motivational level. It will focus on paddling technique, including balance, posture, reading water, catching eddies and peeling out, ferrying and basic paddle strokes to improve how you move your kayak through whitewater. Prerequisites- Having been in a kayak more than 5 times, or having participated in a pool session. Be able to swim. Roll not required, but must have mastered wet exit. Accommodates up to 8 people who identify as female. 4 session cycle. Please attend all 4 sessions August 18, August 25, September 22nd, September 29th Our local class II-III rivers, including the Colorado River near No Name, and the Roaring Fork River between Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. Our first session will begin at Two Rivers Park in Glenwood Springs. Gear available upon request, otherwise please bring boat, paddle, helmet, pfd, spray skirt, booties or water shoes, water bottle, and appropriate layers.
