Coach Freddy Johnson's Basketball Camp $200 Rising K-6th June 7-10 8:30 am-2:00 pm (Mon-Thurs only) Head boy’s basketball coach, Freddy Johnson, along with basketball trainer, Brian Judski, offers the perfect experience for basketball players looking to improve their game. Camp, taught by GDS staff and current GDS players, is designed to teach young players the basic fundamentals in a SAFE and FUN environment. Camp emphasizes the fundamentals of basketball with individual attention given to each young player. The campers will be taught the basic techniques of shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense. Every day campers will have a chance to win competitions, and play full court games. Here are just a few things you will learn out on the court Ball handling drills that you can work on at home to become more confident with the ball Proper shooting technique Passing and catching skills How to box out your opponent and grab a rebound Defensive stance and movements Sportsmanship How to be a good teammate Freddy Johnson has served as the Greensboro Day School Boys' Basketball Head Coach since 1977. He is the winningest high school basketball coach in North Carolina and is only the 8th high school boys' basketball coach in the nation to amass over 1,100 career wins. His teams have won 11 state championships, 28 conference championships, and 17 HAECO Invitational Championships. He has had over 75 players go on to play at the collegiate level, including 4 currently playing in the ACC. In 2020, The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame recognized him with the Morgan Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award for Coaching High School Basketball. Brian Judski has had over 15 years of coaching expericne in the collegiate level.
