Children will learn about an assortment of animals that are located right in their own back yard! Opossums are considered living fossils - unchanged since the time of dinosaurs. Learn how they have they been able to survive this long, even though they are still relatively not respected by humans. Why does the opossum cross the road? What can we do to help him make it across safely? They are the only native marsupial in the US, essentially the USA version of a kangaroo. Vultures are considered to be in the raptor category but are more closely related to Storks! These birds are so intelligent that they need to have toys to keep them busy during the day. You will discover how to interact with them and provide mental stimulation through the use of activities and food items. These are not animals children can interact with normally, however here at Possumwood they will learn about all of these animals, Owls and more!! All children will be required to have bug spray, sunscreen, appropriate clothing such as closed toed shoes, their own lunch and a snack. Children enrolled in extended hours should bring an extra snack. Possumwood Acres uses nut products extensively, including peanuts, to feed the sanctuary residents.
