LEVEL 3 SWIM LESSON
STROKE DEVELOPMENT Builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice in deeper waters.
• Enter water by jumping from the side • Headfirst entry from the side in sitting and kneeling positions • Bobbing while moving toward safety • Rotary breathing • Survival float • Back float • Change from vertical to horizontal position on front and back • Tread water • Push off in a streamlined position then begin flutter and dolphin kicks on front • Front crawl and elementary backstroke • Scissors kick • Reach or throw, don’t go • Think twice before going near cold water or ice • Look before you leap
Exit Skills Assessment1. Jump into deep water from the side, swim front crawl for 15 yards, maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds and swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards.
No goggles for any of the Parent Tot or Pre-K classes.
All cancelations must be submitted in writing one week prior to class registration deadline. No makeup classes are offered for missed lessons unless it is due to pool closure.
