DRAWING 1 - Blended Course: On and off campus studio time along with time at the Nelson Atkins Sculpture Park. Instructor: Jazzmin Earl On campus Dates: June 1, 7,8,14,15,21,22,28, & 29 Time: 9AM-12PM Nelson Atkins Sculpture Park Dates: June 2,3,4 Time: 9AM-12PM Off Campus Dates: June 9,10,11,16,17,18,23,24,25,30 Grade: 9-12 One-Half fine arts elective credit (.50) Cost:$ 375 This accelerated drawing course will introduce artists to the elements of art and principles of design through the development of the student’s powers of observation. Artistic abilities will grow as we study contour lines, linear perspective, composition, and techniques of shading with lead and charcoal pencil, ink, conté and pastels. We will create 1 project a week and have daily sketches due. The course is designed for students to learn drawing skills in person, then take time off campus to finish projects and/or sketches. We will meet June 1 on campus in the art room. We will meet at the Nelson Atkins Sculpture park Museum June 2-4. Students will be REQUIRED to attend on campus classes June 7,8,14,15,21,22,28, & 29. The other three days of the week will be used to complete projects and sketch assignments(about 2-2.5 hours daily). Please make sure to bring a snack and water bottle. Note: This course is a prerequisite for Drawing 2, Painting 1, and Graphic Design 1.
