Hummingbirds fly straight and fast but can stop instantly, hover, and even fly backwards. Many other birds that spend their breeding season in Tennessee migrate hundreds or even thousands of miles each year to survive. Raccoons utilize their tremendous sense of touch and dexterity to catch crayfish in the water at night. And, Walkingsticks become virtually invisible to predators through camouflaging among plants. With adaptations like these, there is no denying that “Tennessee’s got talent!” During this session, campers learn about these amazing adaptations and others, as they explore how plants and animals compete and survive. Each day campers are also given opportunities to showcase their talents, all the while learning new skills, participating in group and individual challenges, and engaging in some friendly competition of their own.
