The 6th annual Spellbound Century road bike event takes place in Mount Holly, Burlington County, NJ where you ride by local horse farms and historic towns on mostly flat roads and some challenging rolling hills. The ride starts from historic Mount Holly, NJ, the County seat of Burlington County. Riders will have various mileage options to choose from including family friendly 20 miles, to a more experience 45 and 63 miles, to a challenging 100 miles. The route will be diverse on quite roads and will have lots of straightaways. The ride routes are marked, fully SAG supported, and riders are assisted on the road by a local motorcycle club. The event will also have fully stocked planned rest stops along the way at farm markets where riders can purchase local fresh goods that will be delivered to Downtown Mount Holly so the purchases will be waiting for the riders when they finish the ride. Riders will be treated to a personal pizza, Italian water ice and a beer token from Spellbound Brewing upon completing their routes. Participants who register before July 3rd will receive the popular event t-shirt. Additionally, all riders will be awarded a custom-made medal in recognition of their day’s accomplishment.
We understand that due to current health conditions some participants would not feel comfortable riding in a group or may have difficulty traveling to the event. So, we’ve elected to offer a virtual option, for the time being. The “Virtual” ride can be completed for the period of July 25th to August 9th. The “Virtual” ride will be as follows:
- Ride the designated miles (20, 45, 63, 100) from your home either outdoor or indoor.
- Post a picture of you doing the ride and a picture or report of the mileage you rode to the event Facebook page: https://facebook.com/events/s/spellbound-century-2020/2189508421352820/?ti=cl as proof of you doing the ride
- Receive in the mail your swag package consisting of: Event bag, Event t-shirt, Custom bib number, Participation medal and a beer token to Spellbound Brewing.
The Spellbound Century has become one of the premier riding events of the summer in New Jersey. The event historically has sold out months before the day off, so register early to secure your spot.
For 2020, your participation will be benefitting the Mount Holly Police Department’s Canine Unit by allowing for the purchase of two trained K9’s and require equipment. Police canines play a vital role in law enforcement and the protection of the communities they serve. K9’s is utilized to deter crime, protect officers and citizens, track and apprehend dangerous criminals, locate lost children/elderly persons, locate evidence, perform K9 demonstrations for community policing events and many more vital roles.
In addition to the to the Mount Holly Police Department Canine Unit, your sponsorship will benefit the Mount Holly School District Parent/Teacher Organizations (PTO/A) by allotting the donated funds for the establishment of a Student Lounge in Holbein School, continuation of the building of the STEM and Sensory rooms at Folwell School and the purchase of indoor/outdoor sensory equipment for Brainerd School. All schools are in Mount Holly, NJ.
Event details and schedule
The event is scheduled for Saturday July 25, 2020. The Spellbound Century will start in downtown Mount Holly on the corner of Washington Street and Park Drive by the Mount Holly Township Municipal Building. By starting the event on Park Drive it will allow participants access to all the free public parking spaces off Rancocas Road. Registration for participants doing the century ride starts at 6:00 AM and roll out will be at 6:45 AM. Participants doing the 63 miles or 45 miles’ route registration begins at 7:00 and 8:00 am and roll out will be at 7:30 am and 8:30 am. Participants doing the 20 miles’ route registration starts at 8:30 AM and roll out will be 9:00 AM. All participants should be back to Downtown Mount Holly by 3:30 PM. All riders must always wear helmets and obey traffic laws. Face coverings is require for the registration area and rest stops. Please practice social distancing when ever possible.This is a rain or shine event. Hours subject to change depending on weather.
