If your child loves acting, singing, dancing, performing, creating, exploring, reading, writing, and discovering new ideas and connections about art and the world around them they will love being a part of our new Theater Project program. Through a series of guided, age-appropriate activities, students will explore the various disciplines required to produce a live production. (for full description visit www.nantucketdreamland.org) Through Age Appropriate Games, Activities and Guest Speakers Students Will: - Discover how to create interesting characters by making interesting acting choices - Delve into the themes of a play – to recognize the outside influences that are inside the script - Experience the casting process from behind the production table - Research and discuss themes that relate to the telling of the story (dramaturgy) - Discover how to steal the show with any role - Work on prop, costume, and set design and creation This dramatic and creative play will build and develop: - Reading skills - Vocabulary - Imagination - Critical Thinking - Team work - Public speaking - Interpretation - Comprehension and much more! This program will result in students producing materials that inform and support the production of Annie Kids. Note: Although Annie Kids will be used as a reference point it will not be the sole focus of the program. Each student registered for the Theater Project will receive 1 free ticket to Annie Kids – so they may see their work on stage. Theater Lens: Annie Kids Session 1: Ages 6-9 Time: 3-5pm Dates: Tuesday & Thursdays Feb. 2nd - Feb. 18th Additional Dates: Thursday & Friday March 3rd & 4th Tuition: $75 Time Commitment: Participation in this program is flexible. Although ideally each student will be available for the entire run of the project so that they may benefit from the full experience.
