About This Activity
We welcome chess players of all levels, from beginner to advanced. Every live session will include a chess lesson and an opportunity for practice play, a fun way to practice skills learned in the lessons, and to prepare for tournament chess. We will conduct chess school through Zoom using a virtual chessboard. You must have Zoom access to participate. Students will need their own Chess.com account for full experience. This class can be taken multiple times until students are ready for advancement. Lessons are not the same from session to session and are based on the needs of the students. Once your child is registered, you will receive instructions for setup. Then your student will be evaluated on skill level and placed in the appropriate level class, which will determine what time they will get on Zoom. The beginner class reviews the basics of chess and students begin to learn strategy, tactics and are introduced to chess etiquette. • 6:00 to 6:30 p.m: Lesson • 6:30 to 7:00 p.m: Optional tournament and practice play The advanced class is for students that have a firm grasp of the game and are ready for advanced strategy and higher level skills. • 6:30 to 7:00 p.m: Lesson • 7:00 to 7:30 p.m: Optional tournament and practice play
