Under the direction of GFS Varsity Baseball Head Coach Randy Mower, who is a former minor league and Division I pitcher, baseball players will develop essential skills, hone their strategic thinking, improve fitness and confidence, and most importantly, have a terrific time with others who share their passion for America’s favorite ballgame! Campers will focus on improving their hitting, base-running, and other team fundamentals, in addition to developing their defensive skills and strategies in the infield, outfield, pitching, and catching. The coaching team will also introduce and demonstrate drills and will incorporate this instruction and drill work into simulated games. Batter up! Afternoon Camp Options: After Athletics Camp for Baseball Players: The fun need not stop after Baseball Camp ends at 12:30 p.m. Join other Baseball campers for an action-packed afternoon of baseball skill-building, mini scrimmages, fitness, yoga, group games, art and more! Participants will be divided into cohorts by grade level and will eat lunch (either a GFS box lunch or food brought from home) and enjoy some recreational downtime before participating in two activity blocks run by Baseball Camp counselors. Pick-up from Fields is at 2:45 p.m. Afternoon Golf Program: This summer, GFS is launching a small pilot program in partnership with First Tee of Philadelphia. Interested participants both novices and more experienced players will be transported to Walnut Lane Golf Course where they will eat lunch (either a GFS box lunch or food brought from home) before having a lesson with First Tee professionals or playing a few holes. Campers can either enroll as a beginner or as a more experienced player. On rainy days when play is not permitted, golfers will be transported to Main Campus to learn more about the game and to play group games. Please note: Enrollment is very limited.
