The club will be open to Kindergarten through eighth graders. The club would be limited to 12 students. Each week the students will build athletic skills through the use of age appropriate yoga practice. The classes will begin at a level appropriate for all beginning students. I will teach the basic yoga positions, movements, fundamentals, and breathing techniques. To promote a healthy lifestyle that involves athletic and breathing practices for students. Yoga helps to improve balance, flexibility, and agility. It also helps to teach breathing techniques that can be used to help students to re-focus, calm themselves, manage emotions, and to relax. This club can be very helpful to students with test taking anxiety, trouble focusing, behavior/anger issues, etc. The school counselor has also suggested that she would be willing to refer students to participate in this club if needed.
