About This Activity
Description
The SWAC Art Hub for Teens is open to teens, ages 12-18 (middle school and high school), who are developing as visual artists, digital creators, writers/literary artists, and/or hand crafters/makers. A variety of art materials are included for visual artists and hand crafters/makers to explore and include in their art projects. We also provide many plug-in ports for those who will bring their own laptops or plug-in devices to create on. On the first day of class, we assist teens in developing an Artist’s Plan. This involves brainstorming interests and ideas in order to decide what project(s) each teen will work on over the duration of the program. We also provide an artist lesson each week (see sample curriculum) and revisit plans on a weekly basis in order to reflect and make changes as needed. The rest of the time is spent in the art studio working on their individual projects. During studio time, teens receive individualized micro-lessons and tips, get support turning “mistakes” into opportunities, and/or receive guidance on how to work through moments of self-doubt. Not sure if it’s right for you? You can try the first class before deciding if you will register! If you're interested in trying the first class, please text, call, or email us: 909 644 5686 or studioworksartcollective@gmail.com. (Note: 12 year old kids who are in middle school tend to be a good fit in the Teen art hub. However, 12 year olds can attend either the Kids’ art hub or the Teens art hub. It’s entirely up to the parent.)
