New Year, New Ocean Week December 28th - December 31st, 2020 *No camp on New Year's Day (1/1/21) 9 AM to 4 PM (M-Th) Campers ages 6-13 The ocean is a magical place. It can be healing, rejuvenating, and at Sanibel Sea School, it’s a place where we can wash away our troubles. This week is New Year, New Ocean and we’re so excited to welcome back our campers for a week of celebrating the ocean and new beginnings! This week at winter camp we’re going to bundle up for beach exploration and wiggle into wetsuits for splashing in the Gulf. We’ll do a super-cool, camp-wide bioblitz of the beach and discuss the importance of conservation. And in true camp tradition, we’re going to surf each day and have an epic surf paddle race at the end of the week! Who will crown the only Golden Coconut of 2020? After we’ve surfed our hearts out and need to warm up, we’ll have hot cocoa and cozy up for an art project inspired by the sea, socially-distanced of course. Finally, to close out the year we will hold our annual ceremony, Give Your Worries to the Sea, to wash away our troubles from 2020. And because this has been a challenging year for everyone, we are doing a giant “call for worries” and would like to invite friends, family, and anyone who cannot join us in-person this week, to send us their worries to be washed out to sea. We hope you can join us for an action packed 4-day camp – we’ll have fun, discover new things, and fall in love with the ocean all over again!
