About This Activity

Ahoy matey! It seems as though we have been marooned on a deserted island after our ship has wrecked at sea. Luckily, we have a few things from our ship. Before we make any moves, we must STOP: Stop, Think, Observe, and Plan! Together we’ll learn survival skills and techniques to keep us alive on an island – or anywhere else. In order of priority we must: find drinking water, construct a shelter, build a fire, and find a food source. January 28 - Fire Starting Fire is an important tool for survival, including keeping bugs away and signaling for help. We will learn the science behind the combustion reactions, how to build a fire, how to start a fire, and more importantly how to put out a fire. For ages 6-13.
