Tinkering: Creative Product Design
Transform cardboard and other recyclables into your own unique creations! We will create toys, wearables, and other inventive products using a kit of versatile tools from reDiscover and some materials from both your home and our Upcycled Materials Warehouse.
A 1:6 instructor: student ratio ensures personalized attention. This class will develop respect for the lifecycle of products, resourcefulness in utilizing available materials, design skills, and creative brainstorming. Design Thinking helps students develop projects based on the needs and interests of oneself and others.
A $20 materials fee covers an age-appropriate Tinkering Tool Kit for cutting, shaping, and fastening cardboard and recyclables.
reDiscover Center has offered Reggio Emilia-inspired classes using creative reuse materials since 2004. Our Tinkering Programs, founded in 2010, extend the Reggio philosophy through elementary school curriculum, while introducing making techniques and the engineering design process. Drawing from our 2,000 square foot Upcycled Materials Warehouse, our distanced classes provide real tools, hands-on activities, and interesting materials that unlock every child’s imagination.
