The musical theatre workshop is designed to teach each student a variety of acting and performance skills through active participation, culminating in a musical performance. Students will learn a variety of performance techniques from auditioning, vocal coaching and character development to rehearsing and performing a musical review. The workshop is designed to give students positive, practical and fun musical theater experience. The workshop is offered to rising 6th-9th grade students and is taught by professional artists assisted by Seattle Prep drama students. Adam Othman is the drama director at Seattle Prep. He has worked as a teacher and theatre artist for over 20 years working with students from elementary school through college. As a teacher he has taught thousands of students and directed over 50 productions. Adam also performs with many local theatre companies throughout the Seattle area. He has been honored with the Outstanding Service Award for his dedication and service to excellence in arts education. Kim Douglass has more than 25+ years of experience in the Puget Sound area working as a professional director and music director. She has taught hundreds of students of all ages. Kim has worked with many local schools including Roosevelt High School (Music Director), Nathan Hale High School (Director), and Bellevue Community College (Music Director). In 2005 Kim was honored as ‘Outstanding Directing’ at the 5th Ave. Theatre High School Musical Awards.
