Class Description: Decorating the skin is an ancient art form dating back thousands of years and reaching across all cultures. Campers will explore the history, design, and art of temporary tattoos. This camp will include henna, body safe paint, and the art of drawing and tattoo design. (All skin decorating will be with body-safe materials and temporary.) Teacher: Cassie Wilhelm is a lifelong local in the valley who spends her days creating, learning or running around with her dogs. She is a professional artist who has spent the last four years as a tattoo artist both locally and in lands as far and exotic as California and Alabama. Painting is her favorite medium. Her favorite artists are Alice Neil, Georgia O’Keeffe, Jim Henson, and Claude Monet. The best art knowledge she has gained is from strange and unusual folks like herself who have dedicated their whole lives to their creative path. Creating works of art is a sublime and rewarding process and she is excited to share and encourage and to give back some of the wonderful textures that art has brought to her life.
