Who: participants with autism who are 15 and older What: Co-ed Wiffleball Our coaches and staff will use their expertise, modeling, and visuals to teach skills and understanding of the game. We hope to increase our athlete’s physical endurance, coordination, attention, and social interaction through team play. Wiffle Ball is a variation of the sport of baseball designed for indoor or outdoor play in confined areas. The game is played using a perforated, light-weight, rubbery plastic ball and a long, plastic bat. The game of Wiffle Ball was invented in the 1950s and became a popular backyard and sandlot game in the 1960s and 1970s. Leagues and tournaments are now played worldwide. Where: FACT Autism Resource Center 3509 Virginia Beach Blvd Virginia Beach, VA 23452 When: Saturday mornings September 7- October 26, 2024 Older Ballers- 9:30am-10:30am Younger Ballers- 10:35-11:35pm Middle Ballers- 11:40-12:40pm Why: Our goal is for every child to walk out of the gym with a smile on their face, but we also hope to increase our athlete’s physical endurance, coordination, attention, and social interaction through team play. Parents are required to stay for this program. Bleachers inside the gym and/or a quieter waiting area will be available to our families as they wait for program to end.
