Led by Varsity Gonzaga Hockey Coach Bill Slater and his coaching staff, this camp is a great opportunity for hockey players of all skill levels to learn and improve in a competitive and fun environment. Gonzaga is a powerhouse in Mid Atlantic Prep Hockey League (MAPHL) one of the most competitive high school hockey leagues in the Washington area. Camp is run by Gonzaga Head Coach Bill Slater, along with Assistant Camp Directors Ryan Holley and Andrew Panzarella. ** Coach Panzarella played three seasons at Gonzaga (2006-2008), before leaving to play junior hockey in the USHL. While at Gonzaga, he was a member of a team which won three consecutive championships, including the program’s first title. After Gonzaga, he played four seasons in the USHL, with stints in Des Moines, Tri-City, and Waterloo. Panzarella then went on to play four years at the University of North Dakota. ** Coach Holley played four years of varsity hockey for Gonzaga and was captain his junior and senior years. He went on to play hockey for four years at the NCAA DIII level at St. Anselm College, where he was a two year captain and a three time NE-10 Champion. The camp focuses on fundamentals (skating, shooting, puck handling) as well as advanced technique and position-specific skills. Camp starts at 5pm and will be split into two groups: Rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders AND Rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders NOTE for GOALIES: Goaltending training will be a focus at the camp, and a goaltending coach will work with goalies individually and in small groups. Goalies will get plenty of work in the net during drills, scrimmages, and individual goalie-specific sessions. Goalies pay only $100 for the camp, but must participate as a goaltender to receive the reduced price. If you are not able to make the entire week, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com to receive pro-rated pricing.
