Get Your Kids off the Couch for YMCA's Healthy Kids Day

Summer is rapidly approaching and your kids are undoubtedly looking forward to getting out of the classroom for a few months. For too many children, getting out of school means more time in front of the TV.

Studies have shown that lack of exposure to stimulating activities over the summer break can lead to weight gain and cause children to fall behind academically.

On Saturday, April 30, the YMCA plans to help families start healthy habits before summer starts with its Healthy Kids Day. The 25th annual event is a national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids.

More than 1,300 YMCA locations host free physical and educational activities for kids every year on Healthy Kids Day. Take a look at what the Y has in store and find a participating location near you to get in on the fun.
