The Benefits of Family Yoga

Between work, school, meals, soccer practice, laundry, dance class, birthday parties and an endless list of other activities, its no wonder you're feeling as though the family seems a little disconnected. Each person is going in different directions and if one ball in the perfect juggle of life drops, all of the other balls might drop too.

When do you create time for family bonding and how do you keep everyone interested? By finding an activity that each member can enjoy that doesn't take up too much time for an already over packed schedule.

Seems impossible, right? Well if there is a will there is a way, you just may need to get creative.

Many possibilities exist, but there is one solution that has been tried and tested by many families and has proven to be successful—it's yoga.

Yoga is physically, mentally and emotionally beneficial for all ages. Taking one hour once a week for the family to participate in a class together is not too challenging if you make an effort. The key is to find a class that everyone enjoys, one that is engaging for the kids, but challenging for the adults.

If that doesn't seem like a realistic goal for you, then start smaller by taking a yoga class once a week with your partner, or signing your teenager or little one up for classes geared towards their age group. Or, you can have family yoga time at your local park or home. There are even mommy and baby classes out there—and why not invite the grandparents to join?
