The City of Santa Maria Mayor’s Task Force on Youth Safety is coordinating a museums and universities excursion, including visits to the Broad and Getty museums, the Orange County Museum of Art, and campus tours of the California State University campuses in Fullerton and Los Angeles, and the University of California campuses in Irvine and Los Angeles. The students will be transported from the Abel Maldonado Community Youth Center at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30th, and will return to Santa Maria at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1st. The group will be staying at the Hampton Inn Glendale, located at 114 West Colorado Boulevard, Glendale, California, 91204. The hotel rooms will be shared in pairs, and room assignments will be determined by age and gender. The trip will be chaperoned by City of Santa Maria employees and Mayor Alice Patino.
PROGRAM COSTS
Transportation, meals, lodging, and tour costs are covered by the program. Students may take money for souvenirs and incidentals.
WHAT TO BRING?
The weather will be in the high-70s. It is recommended that students prepare for an overnight stay.
· School ID
· A change of clothes, a jacket for the evenings, and comfortable walking shoes.
· Toiletries and daily medications.
PARTICIPANT COMMITMENT
· Participants are required to engage respectfully with staff, guides, and university hosts.
· Participants are required to remain with the group during activities.
· Participants are required to remain in their hotel rooms for the duration of the “lights out” period.
· Participants are responsible for reporting incidents, accidents, and offenses.
· Participation in activities is required.
· Participants’ clothing must follow their school district’s dress code.
· Drugs, alcohol, and related paraphernalia are prohibited.
· Unsafe actions are prohibited.
· Harassment is prohibited.
· Participants understand that their image/likeness/video/audio may be used by the City of Santa Maria for marketing purposes without compensation.
