Summer OutPod will evolve toward more immersive courThis is a skills progression toward increasingly challenging outdoor adventures leading up to a final backpacking expedition. Students play and work as a group. Skills developed include navigation, knife work, fire, shelter, foraging, logistics/planning etc. This is a great way to introduce youth to becoming more independent campers and adventurers and meet new peers. For Summer programming will occur every other week and include two field trip days, two overnight camping trips and one three day backpacking trip. All trips will begin mid week to avoid weekend recreation traffic at camping sites. Paste calendar dates into your schedule. Its not crazy but its not easy to remember! Single Day Field Trips June 23 and July 21 (9am-5pm) Camping Trips July 7-8 and Aug 4-5 (leave 10am return 5pm) Backpacking Trip Aug 18-20 (leave 10am return 5pm). Destinations TBD and will incorporate student feedback/input. Program designed to assess for, mentor in and develop confidence, initiative and leadership through collaborative adventuring. Programming will be, progressively, student lead. Instructors initially provide guidance and then increasingly challenge students to create, plan and organize trips. Trips designed to meet the following 4 criteria. Adventurous - Logistically well planned - Clear objectives (skills/projects) - Challenging. Families are responsible for outdoor gear/food on remote trips. Coyle Outside will work with students/families to make sure students are prepared for trips.
