This course certifies participants to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of stroke mechanics, safe class fundamentals, and how to use Red Cross materials to facilitate active and fun learn-to-swim lessons. Participants will have to pass pre-requisite skills on the first day of class to continue. Perquisite skills include swimming 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, 15 yards of butterfly, floating/sculling on back, and treading water for 1 minute. Students must be at least 16 years old by the last day of class. This class is a Blended (partial online learning) course. Students will need to complete the online portion BEFORE in-person sessions. If online work is not complete before the start of in-person sessions, the participant will be turned away.This is a blended learning class. Participants must complete the online content before the first day of in-person sessions.
