Instructor: Dr. Hannah Mottel is a registered nurse and assistant professor at USCA. She received her master’s in nursing education and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Walden University. She is a certified nurse educator and healthcare simulation educator. She is also a certified BLS CPR instructor and holds CPR certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Dr. Mottel has a passion for health, fitness, and overall wellness. Description: This course will have four sessions focusing on the following: Session 1: improving overall preventative health, emphasizing overall wellness (mind, body, and spirit). Session 2: Basic first aid, to include cleaning minor cuts, scrapes, or scratches; treating a minor burn; applying bandages and dressings; and the use of non-prescription medicine. Session 3: Reducing obesity through diet and exercise. Session 4: Mindfulness (focusing on meditation and its link to an overall improvement of wellness and mental health).
