About This Activity

In this fun 3-day camp we'll teach bike control with smooth start and stops, riding with one hand to signal, riding a straight line and be able to look behind them in fun games and challenges. We'll introduce bike riding rights and laws and traffic awareness of where to look for car drivers and what to expect when drivers don't follow the laws. (ex. drivers rolling through stop signs when kids are walking or biking from the sidewalk). **Kids must be able to ride on two wheels and pedal the bike without assistance. Camps build on skills. Skipping days is not allowed. Kids will be treated to riding on beautiful paths along the boat marina, slow streets, Jean Sweeney Park to Alameda Cross trail protected lanes and on Alameda Point. We meet at Bohol Circle Park on 5th Street in Alameda on the first day. Pick up everyday is Jean Sweeney parking lot and drop off day 2 and 3 is Jean Sweeney parking lot. Bikes and helmets must be brought to West Side Joe's or Cycle City with rider to be sized, safety checked and appointment made for bike maintenance if needed. KIDS WHO ARRIVE WITH UNSAFE AND INCORRECTLY FITTING BIKES AND HELMETS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. Kids must be vaccinated for Covid19 and bring their own water, snacks and lunch and spare bike tube. Heavy rain or wind cancels with refund.
