We will make papier mache alebrijes from Mexico, clay salamanders using the broken tile technique to enact those found in Park Güell in Barcelona. We are going to make individual “Mini Piñatas” with party favors inside!!! We are going to paint with natural tints using Andean traditional motifs, worry dolls, and more! Face painting will also be available. STEM activities: Did you know that a single potato can power a small light bulb? That’s right, your favorite food is a mini battery. Campers will be proud to make their own electric circuit and take it home! Food: Campers will make delicious snacks and beverages typical of the countries of study. We´ll make Horchata de Chufa and Pan Tumaca from Spain. Did you know that Peru has more than 4,000 types of potatoes? We will make the famous “Papa a la huancaina” dish. Campers will also make Guacamole from México and much more. Alfajores from Peru and Argentina will be assembled by sandwiching a layer of dulce de leche between two simple cookies and rolling the edges in shredded coconut. Music and Instruments: We’ll explore the music and instruments typical of each country. Campers will have an interactive Zoom Salsa, cumbia, and Vallenato class with a professional dancer. Campers will make musical instruments with recycled materials, such as castanets from Spain for flamenco.
