Instructor Bio: Mickey Jones is a lifelong musician with a passion for helping others discover the joy of making music. As the director of the Levanta Institute for Music & Creativity at Albuquerque Academy, Mickey leads with heart, vision, and a deep belief that creativity can change lives. He’s also been sharing his love of classical guitar with Academy students for nearly two decades—mentoring young artists, coaching ensembles, and sparking new ideas along the way. With degrees in music performance from the University of New Mexico and a career that’s included concert stages, summer festivals, and commissioned works, Mickey blends professional excellence with a down-to-earth style that makes music feel accessible and inspiring. Whether he’s directing a workshop, teaching a private lesson, or dreaming up Levanta’s next bold idea, Mickey’s goal is always the same: to nurture creativity and create space for students to flourish.
