About This Activity

In our private music lessons, students receive joyful, one-on-one instruction with master teachers who are dedicated to nurturing confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music. Whether you’re picking up an instrument for the very first time or looking to take your skills to the next level, your lessons will be tailored just for you—meeting you where you are and guiding you toward your goals with encouragement, expertise, and plenty of fun along the way. Students learn the fundamentals of technique, tone, rhythm, and musical expression while exploring music that excites and inspires them. With the focused attention of a highly skilled instructor, each student builds a strong foundation, develops healthy playing habits, and discovers the joy of making music that feels personal and meaningful. Instructor Bio: John Truitt is a celebrated educator and performer who has devoted more than 50 years to music education in Albuquerque, helping to establish Albuquerque Academy’s band and guitar programs and composing over 30 works for guitar ensemble. A specialist in woodwinds, flamenco guitar, and jazz improvisation, he has studied in Spain and performed with renowned artists across the flamenco and jazz worlds. His leadership has shaped guitar education nationally, including spearheading the addition of guitar ensemble to the New Mexico All-State Festival—the first in the nation. Honored with numerous awards, including the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Teacher of the Year and induction into both the New Mexico Jazz Workshop and New Mexico Music Halls of Fame, he continues to inspire young musicians with his dedication and artistry. Wherever your musical journey begins, we’re here to help you play with confidence, curiosity, and heart.
