About This Activity
---Instructor: Linda Wells---This camp is designed for singers at any level, from beginners to those with some experience. Students will be taught the basics of vocal technique for proper singing, including voice placement and production, breathing, and phrasing. They will also receive guidance in finding their voice type, choosing appropriate audition material, and preparing for an audition. Each student will work on at least one solo song and will receive ongoing coaching not only in proper singing technique but in interpreting and performing the song. We will discuss the meaning of the lyrics and where the song comes from (the plot of the musical, the character who sings the song), and how to make the song come alive by not just singing it, but also interpreting and performing it. Students will perform for each other in class. We will also work on one or more musical theater pieces that students will sing as an ensemble. Campers looking for an all-day option are invited to sign up for The Play’s The Thing and save on Active Network service charges.
