Youth Chess with G-Powers
Playing Chess allows kids to develop self-confidence, become deeper thinkers, and have fun! Students will learn how to play the game, learn forks and pins, how to check mate and use opening and ending strategies. These skills will allow them to break down and understand real chess games.
Grades: K-5th. Beginning/Intermediate. Students with no or some experience in chess are welcome to join. They learn basic opening and ending strategies and further learn how to use forks and pins. Instructors: G-Powers staff. 8 classes. No class 11/4.
Testimonial:
Coach G Powers is an incredible educator with the ability to motivate & inspire students of all ages. We began taking his classes when my son was in Y5's and he has thrived over the years, especially in Chess. We look forward to seeing Coach Powers every school year and feel so lucky to have him as a part of the Ann Arbor Public Schools Rec & Ed Team!
