Grades: 1st-3rd. You will learn many classic moves such as jazz walks and runs, jazz squares, isolations, pivot turn, snap kicks, ball-change, the grapevine, and popular floorwork like jazz slides, half-splits, seat spins, and more. Dancers learn combinations but also engage with props and practice improvising and creating their own moves! A short in class presentation will take place in the final class. Instructor: Ms. Sears, is a polished educator with a professional dance and somatics career, a former dance professor, and adjudicator for the MYAF. 8 Classes.
Meet our Instructor:
Ms. Christina-Marie Sears, the founder of Maple Street Studios, is an award-winning dance educator, MFA, who has taught at Universities and dance studios in our region and across the US. Ms. Christina won the 2016 Dance Educator of the Year, with Michigan Youth Arts Festival and Meemic Foundation making the award; Michigan Dance Council was the nominator.
