Grades 3rd - 12th & an Adult. Teens do not need to have an adult present. Please register in the child’s name. Japanese snacks and sweets are all the rage! If you ever wondered about making your own versions of mochi and match desserts, join Japanese native community farm chef Kori Kanayama to try your hands at making mochi from scratch! Once the mochi is pounded, we will make two types of traditional preparations including the popular azuki bean paste. A second dessert is matcha shortbread, the delectable Scottish cookie made with Michigan-grown wholewheat and dressed up with matcha powder. Kori features local, high-quality, whole ingredients in her cooking. While not sugar-free, she’ll demonstrate a wholesome approach to sweets that are fun to make and a delight to eat. We will enjoy what we made with tea at the end. You can count on an authentic dessert spread that you’ll know how to make on your own. Instructor: Kori Kanayama. 1 class. Register a second child for $59.
Please bring a hat or scarf to cover your hair, an apron if desired and food containers to bring leftovers home.
