Description
Grades K-3rd. Come learn the joy of playing the ukulele! Designed for beginners with little or no musical experience, this class teaches the basics of playing the ukulele in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Learn how to hold and tune your instrument, play simple chords, develop basic strumming patterns, and perform easy songs together. Improve listening and coordination skills, while discovering the excitement of making music with your friends. No prior experience is needed - just bring your own ukulele and be ready to strum, sing, and smile! If you don't wish to purchase a ukulele, you may be able to rent one at a local music store. Instructor: Deborah Stanton. 8 classes.
Meet the Instructor:
Deborah (Debbie) Stanton earned a Degree in Education (Michigan Teaching Certificate) at the University of Michigan. She continued her studies in Instrumental Music Education at Eastern Michigan University. She also earned a Suzuki Method Violin Teacher Certification at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
Debbie has been teaching music at the Ann Arbor Suzuki Institute of Music for almost 40 years, and has worked as both a substitute teacher and teacher assistant in Ann Arbor Public Schools since 2006.
Most importantly, she is a mother and grandmother, and looks forward to helping children learn about the incredible joy that music can bring to their lives.
Due to King Curriculum Night on 9/16, the new start/end dates are 9/23-11/11.
Class meets in room 101.
