Safety Town is for incoming Young 5, Kindergarten or First Grade students.Students must be 5 years old by December 1, 2026.
Please note: Participants may only register for one week of Safety Town so that more children can attend. All weeks cover the same activities and information.
Safety Town is one of Rec & Ed's most popular summer educational programs! Children learn safety awareness in a fun, engaging way while exploring a child-sized mock Ann Arbor “town” on tricycles. Children practice identifying safe vs. unsafe situations and hear from exciting guest speakers, including police officers, firefighters, Louie the Lightning Bug, water safety specialists, and more.
General Information:
- Location: Wines Elementary School, 1701 Newport Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48103
- Campers must be potty trained by the start date of camp.
- Will your camper benefit from extra support? Fill out the Special Needs Planning Form.
- **IMPORTANT: Students must be picked up promptly by 11:45 AM each day**
- All campers receive a t-shirt and bike helmet!
What to Bring to Safety Town?
- Backpack
- Extra set of clothes - just in case!
- Filled water bottle
- 1 NUT-FREE snack
- Please apply sunscreen before your child arrives
Scholarship Information:
- Limited scholarships are available for those who qualify financially.
- 100% scholarship recipients pay a $5 co-pay at the time of registration.
- Families with current Rec & Ed scholarships will need to call 734-994-2300 X 0 Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm for registration assistance.
Welcome letters & room assignments will be emailed on July 20th
