About This Activity
This class is geared for the curious minded and the tone is light and conversational. This is not your average Art History class. We don’t approach the topic chronologically but instead present it through a thematic approach. Art about food and shelter, art about nature and technology, art about politics and propaganda, art about portraiture and the human form . . . etc. Hold on to your hats - any given class is like bouncing back and forth in a time machine, an unlimited pass across time and space! While not a requirement, this class offers you the possibility to make artwork based on the theme of the week. By the end of this class, students will have a clear understanding of our very human interests and motivations, as expressed through art, and how despite the distance of time and space, these interests and motivations haven't much changed. We take a big picture look at the human condition, combing through thousands of years of artistic human expression. Students should bring a pencil and paper for notes.
