This fall we will study Rep Weave. Rep Weave is a warp faced cloth where the threads are placed very closely together. Weavers use alternately very thick and thin weft yarn to create a ribbed surface. The weft threads are seen along the selvedges as they dive between the ribs. Designs take shape as contrasting yarns are brought to the surface using block design. Rep is commonly used for rug weaving but we will focus on fabric more suitable for bags and baskets. Students who have some prior weaving experiences are welcome in this class. Brand new weavers are encouraged to take the Weaving Introduction Workshop or Beginners Plus! Class. Supplies available include 8/2, 10/2, 20/2 and some 8/4 cotton and are included in the registration fee.
